Message from the PAAD President: Don't Forget - PAAD Palaro tomorrow, Saturday, August 27

Hi Everyone,

We are blessed that the weather forecast for Saturday is only showers in the morning and rains in the afternoon. The wind and thunderstorms will be felt only on Sunday and Monday. All teams playing tomorrow are requested to come half an hour earlier to ensure that you are around on your scheduled time to play.

So join us this Saturday, August 27 from 10:15 A.M. in one of the most exciting days in the PAAD Palaro Games at the PAL Center located in 7259 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin DE, 19707. To all the parents, children, fans, friends and barkadas, please cheer for your favorite teams and players. And once again, enjoy the fabulous food such as empanada, pansit, sandwiches, special dish and cool drinks in the PAAD refreshment area. We have special candies and treats for the children as well.

The Open Division features two seminal games. In the first semifinal at 10:30 A.M., top ranked Team Wedge battles the improving Global Cargo Movers at 10:30 A.M. In the second semifinal at 11: 45 A.M., second ranked Dynamic Physical Therapy battles the dangerous Ballersville Team. The winners of the semifinals will battle for the championship on September 3, Saturday.

In the Youth Basketball Games sponsored by Philippine Bread House, the Green Team will play the Blue Team in their knockout match at 10:30 A.M. The winner will advance to the finals against the White Team on September 3. All Youth players can practice in available basketball courts.

The three point shooting elimination round will continue at 11:30 A.M. All previous players who have already participated in last Saturday's elimination round can participate once again to improve their scores. Three players will advance to the finals where they will face defending champion Jake Cortez. Currently leading the three point elimination rounds are: RJ Valera of Dynamic, 10 points, Sonny De La Torre of Ballersville, 8 Points and Reese Pr'out of Dynamic, 6 points.

Meanwhile, in the 35 and Over Division, the Delaware Titans rose from the ashes of defeats to the heights of redemption by downing the favored New York Life of Pennsylvania, 53-41 in their knock out match last Saturday, August 20. The Titans will face the top ranked Ballersville 35+ Team in the finals on September 3.

Please note however that the Volleyball knock out match between the Couples for Christ (CFC) team and the Healing Water Bible Church Spikers was postponed and will be played on September 3. The winner will face the Delaware Dabarkads in the championship game also on that day. However, all volleyball players can practice in preparation for the knock out match and the championship.

All participating teams will be receiving trophies for their all out efforts and fine display of teamwork and sportsmanship at the awarding ceremony in the afternoon of September 3.

Thank you to all the teams (the managers, the players, coaches & members), the parents, the children, our friends, our supporters and the fans who came and who will be coming to the two remaining days of the Palaro. We also express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all our donors, the Health Care for Children, the Philippine Bread House, our donors of food and refreshments, other organizations and individuals, our Sports Committee officers and volunteers, fellow PAAD members and officers, for your generosity and outstanding contributions. The PAAD Palaro will not flourish without your support.

So rain or shine, magkitakita po tayo sa Sabado upang masaksihan ang kapanapanabik na mga laro sa Palaro 2011. See you all on Saturday for the exciting competitions in the PAAD Palaro 2011 games.

Maraming salamat po.

Warmest regards,
Jun Rana
